Purpose:
To provide students with a comprehensive textbook custom designed for complete coverage of the New York State Core Curriculum for Geometry.
Geometry is a new text for high school geometry that continues the approach that has made Amsco a leader in presenting mathematics in a contemporary, integrated manner. Formal logic is presented as the foundation for geometric reasoning. A logical system of reasoning and proof is carefully built using appropriate language, postulates, and theorems.
Features:
- Covers every performance indicator for the New York State Math Core Curriculum Content Strands for Geometry. Process strands are integrated throughout the book.
- Integrates the use of color as a pedagogical tool.
- Definitions, formulas, postulates, and theorems are listed at the end of each chapter for easy reference.
- Covers Solid Geometry through the study of perpendicular and parallel lines and planes, and surface area and volume of cones, cylinders, prisms, pyramids, and spheres.
- Guides students through required Constructions.
- Explains principles and processes in step-by-step Examples, which often include Alternative Solutions.
- Presents fully worked-out Proofs of theorems and corollaries, which often include Alternative Proofs.
- Includes exercises and activities for use with Geometry Software.
- Provides varied types of exercises, which include Writing About Mathematics, Developing Skills, Applying Skills, and Hands-On Activities.
- Supplies a Chapter Summary and Vocabulary List to recap each chapter.
- Contains Review Exercises for each chapter and Cumulative Reviews in Regents format.
- Offers enrichment material in Exploration in every chapter, providing opportunities to “think outside-of-the-box.”
- Aligns each chapter with Amsco’s Preparing for the Regents Examination Geometry.
